Geopark Ngarai Sianok & Maninjau
In order to support the accelerated development
of the Geopark area in West Sumatra, the Provincial Tourism Office is holding a
National Level Ranah Minang Geopark Jambore in Sawahlunto on 25
to 28 July 2023. Participants come from various Geoparks in Indonesia,
especially regencies/cities throughout West Sumatra such as from the Ngarai
Sinanok Maninjau Geopark, Silokek Geopark, Sawahlunto
Geopark, Singkarak Geopark Candidate, Harau Geopark Candidate,
South Solok Geopark Candidate, Talamau Geopark Candidate and
several National Geoparks from outside West Sumatra Province such as Rinjani
Geopark and Batur Geopark.
The activity began on Tuesday 25 July 2023, which
is the day the Jambore participants arrive at the camp location.
Participants register and receive facilities in the form of clothes and hats
and are immediately directed to occupy the camp provided by the committee.
On Wednesday 26 July, the participants performed Subuh prayers in jamaah, after
that the jambore participants did morning exercises together and
continued with breakfast. At 10.00 WIB the participants took part in the Geo
Tangkas Preliminary Round and left three groups for the Final Round. The
Opening Ceremony which was attended by the Governor of West Sumatra was held
starting at 14.00 accompanied by the Tari Galombang. The Ranah Minang
Geopark Jambore Opening Ceremony was carried out with a ribbon cutting by
the Mayor of Sawahlunto. And in the evening at 20.00 WIB, the
participants held a Geo Dialogue.
The activities on July 27, 2023, are the
Implementation of Geotracking and Geobimtek (Geo Technical Guidance). And the
closing will be held on July 28, 2023. This event is planned to continue to be
held as a permanent event every two years. And it is hoped that in 2025 the Ngarai
Sianok Maninjau Geopark can host the 2025 Ranah Minang Camp Geopark
Jambore.
